Contemporary American artist Hunt Slonem has a passion for historic mansions – he has restored and furnished eight National Landmark homes ingeniously blending his own art amidst a profusion of antique furnishings. “My homes are my life’s work – making old homes into a new form of my art” says Hunt Slonem in the preface to his book.
The Spirited Homes of Hunt Slonem is about the artist’s idiosyncratic design style – how Hunt employs color, arranges an abundance of period furniture, and exhibits his own paintings with scores of antique portraits. With lush imagery by talented photographer John Neitzel, text by renowned author Brian Coleman and preface by Whoopi Goldberg this book opens the doors to Hunt Slonem’s personal and creative world.
Brian D. Coleman, M.D. is a practicing psychiatrist in Seattle, Washington. Also an old house enthusiast, he has grown his love for restoration and design into an active second career. He is the West Coast Editor for "Old House Journal" magazine and has written numerous articles on home design for magazines ranging from "Arts and Crafts Homes" to "Period Living" in the U.K. Brian is the author of 23 books including Fortuny Interiors, Farrow & Ball, Scalamandre, and most recently The Spirited Homes of Hunt Slonem. Brian divides his time between Seattle and New York.
