Attending a Lecture
The Forum sponsors lectures on a variety of topics by prominent scholars.
The lectures are presented either in person with Zoom access or exclusively on Zoom. The schedule varies monthly, with two lecture “double features” usually held on weekends in the Gunn Theater at the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park during regular museum hours.
All lectures are free to ADAF Members.
Each Forum lecture counts as one hour of educational credit for the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), the American Society of Interior Decorators (ASID) and the International Society of Appraisers (ISA).
Forum members are also invited to attend receptions each year for the guest speakers. Most receptions are held at members’ homes throughout the Bay Area. The Forum also arranges special curated tours of museum exhibitions, intensive study groups, social events, and day and weekend trips to private collections in Northern California and beyond.
The Legion of Honor
Programs are held at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. The Legion is located at 100 34th Avenue in Lincoln Park. The cross street for the southern park entrance is Clement Street. An additional eastern park entrance is just west of the intersection of 32nd Avenue and El Camino Del Mar. Enter the museum at the west side lower level near the café.
Parking at the Legion of Honor
Free street parking close to the west side lower level entrance is available on El Camino del Mar, with additional free parking in front of the museum near the fountain.
Taking MUNI to the Legion of Honor
The Legion of Honor is accessible via bus lines 18-46th Avenue, 38-Geary, and 1-California.
The 18-46th Avenue stops directly in front of the museum.
The 1-California stops at 33rd Avenue and Clement Street. From there, you can transfer to the 18 or you can walk one block west to 34th Ave. and up Legion of Honor Drive.
The 38-Geary stops at 33rd Avenue and Geary Street. From there, you can transfer to the 18 or you can walk two blocks north and one block west to 34th and Clement and up Legion of Honor Drive.
The walk from 33rd Avenue and Clement Street to the Legion of Honor entrance is approximately half a mile.
